Capital Planning

Open Capital Planning in Thermal →

What it's for

Capital Planning turns a customer's install base into a multi-year forecast of what they will need to spend replacing, repairing, and maintaining it. It is the document that gets a facilities manager their budget approved, and it comes out of records you already keep rather than a spreadsheet someone rebuilds every year.

Reach it from Service & Assets → Capital Planning in the sidebar, at /capital-planning.

Tabs

The list has no tabs. Generate Capital Plan creates one; opening a row shows the plan itself.

Panels and controls

  • The list shows the plans you have generated, by customer and site.
  • Generate plan starts a new forecast against a customer's install base.
  • Opening a plan goes to its record, where the line items, the totals, and the sharing controls live.

Capital Planning is an optional module. A shop that has not turned it on does not see this screen at all.

What it accepts

The list writes nothing. Plans are generated from Generate Capital Plan and edited on their own record.

How to configure it

  • This screen belongs to the Capital Planning module. Check Settings → Capabilities, and Settings reference for what your plan includes.
  • Capital planning settings decide the forecast horizon and the contingency applied to the total.
  • The forecast reads the equipment records themselves — install year, warranty, service history, and risk — so the quality of the plan follows the quality of your equipment data.

Who can see it

This screen sits behind the Customers area, and additionally behind the Capital Planning module.

Owners, office managers and dispatchers can open it where the module is on. Technicians cannot. The gate is checked on the server, not just hidden in the sidebar, so a direct link does not get around it.

The full role matrix is on Roles & permissions.
