Generate Capital Plan

Open Capital Planning → NEW in Thermal →

What it's for

Generate Capital Plan builds the forecast. It "forecasts multi-year equipment replacement, repair, and maintenance costs off the customer's install base" — so the numbers come from the units you have on record for that customer, not from a template someone filled in by hand.

Reach it from Generate plan on the Capital Planning list, at /capital-planning/new.

Tabs

The form has no tabs. It is two choices and a button.

Panels and controls

  • Customer — search your accounts with "Search customers…". The forecast is built from every unit on their record.
  • Service site — narrow the plan to one location. Leave it empty to cover the customer's whole estate, which is usually what a multi-site account wants.
  • Generate plan produces the forecast and takes you to it.

What the forecast is built from

Each unit's install year, warranty state, service and repair history, and risk signals decide when it is likely to need replacing and what that will cost. A customer whose equipment records are thin gets a thin forecast — the plan is only as good as the install base behind it, which is the honest limit of this screen.

How to configure it

  • This screen belongs to the Capital Planning module — see Settings → Capabilities.
  • Capital planning settings decide the forecast horizon and the contingency percentage added to the total.
  • The equipment records themselves are the input. Filling in install years and warranty dates on a customer's units is what makes their plan credible.

Who can see it

This screen sits behind the Customers area, and additionally behind the Capital Planning module.

Owners, office managers and dispatchers can open it where the module is on. Technicians cannot. The gate is checked on the server, not just hidden in the sidebar, so a direct link does not get around it.

The full role matrix is on Roles & permissions.
