Labor utilization

What it's for
Labor utilization is "Chargeable hours vs. capacity, by tech, branch, and department." It is the ratio that decides whether your payroll is being paid for by customers, and it is the first number to look at when revenue is flat but everyone is busy.

Panels and controls
Columns: Tech, Branch, Department, Chargeable, Nonchargeable, Travel, Total, Capacity, and Utilization.
Travel is broken out from nonchargeable on purpose. Travel is real work that is usually not billed, and lumping it in with training and shop time hides the single biggest lever most shops have — routing. A technician at 55% utilization with 20% travel has a scheduling problem, not a productivity one.
Capacity comes from configured working hours, so Utilization is chargeable hours against what the shop said a week should hold.
Export CSV takes it out.
No technicians in scope is the empty state.

The report is a read-out over approved time entries.
How to configure it
- Time validation and Billable time settings decide which time types count as chargeable — this is the definition the whole report rests on.
- Business hours and defaults set the capacity figure.
- Overtime settings decide how hours beyond capacity are treated.
- Time has to be approved on Time entries before it appears here.
Who can see it
This screen sits behind the Reports area.
Owners, office managers and dispatchers can open it. Technicians cannot. The gate is checked on the server, not just hidden in the sidebar, so a direct link does not get around it.
