Fleet

Open Fleet in Thermal →

What it's for

Fleet is the equipment your shop owns rather than services — chillers, cooling towers, temporary units. It shows what is in the yard, what is out on rent, and what is due back, so a request for a 30-ton chiller gets an answer in seconds rather than a phone call.

Reach it from Jobs → Fleet in the sidebar, at /fleet. Fleet is part of the Rentals module.

Tabs

The list has no tabs. Class filters and state filters narrow it instead.

Panels and controls

  • Search covers the list — "Search fleet…" and "Search assets…".
  • Filters with counts: All, On rent, and one per asset class.
  • Columns: Asset, Description, State, Source, Metric, and Notes. Source distinguishes a unit you own from one you re-rented in from a vendor, which matters because the two have different economics.
  • Out & overdue jumps to the units that should have come back.
  • Schedule return books the collection.
  • Register vendor unit adds a re-rented unit, and receipt of it gets confirmed when it arrives.
  • No assets and No matches are the empty states.

Deploy and return

Moving a unit out to a site and bringing it back are both recorded with condition photos, a meter reading, and condition notes. That record is what settles a damage argument three months later — it is worth the extra minute at both ends.

How to configure it

  • This screen belongs to the Rentals module. Check Settings → Capabilities.
  • Rentals settings decide the return-charge types and whether a returned unit is held for service by default.
  • Rate cards decide what a deployed unit bills at — see Rate cards.
  • Branches decide which yard a unit returns to.

Who can see it

This screen sits behind the Rentals area, and additionally behind the Rentals module.

Owners and office managers can open it where the module is on. Dispatchers and technicians cannot. The gate is checked on the server, not just hidden in the sidebar, so a direct link does not get around it.

The full role matrix is on Roles & permissions.
