Fleet asset

What it's for

A fleet asset record is one company-owned unit in full: where it is, what it has earned, what it has cost, and what condition it came back in. It is the screen that tells you whether a unit is worth keeping.

Reach it by opening any row on Jobs → Fleet. The route is /fleet/<asset>.

Tabs

• Overview — the numbers below.
• Rental history — every contract the unit has been out on: Contract, Customer, Range, and Total.
• Service — work done on the unit, with Work order, Description, and Billed to. No service dispatched while on rent is a good empty state — it means the unit did not break on a customer.
• Condition — the photo and note record from each deploy and return.

Fact strip

State, Contract, Time util (YTD), Dollar util, Next available, Revenue, Burdened labor, Non-labor cost, Total cost, Margin, and Margin %.

Time utilization and dollar utilization are different questions and both are here on purpose: a unit can be out constantly and still lose money if it is out at the wrong rate, and a unit can be idle half the year and still be your best earner. Next available is the one dispatch actually asks for.

Side panels

• Fleet profitability — revenue against burdened labour and non-labour cost, giving a real margin rather than a rental total.
• Re-rental source — for a unit rented in from a vendor, where it came from and on what terms.
• Asset spec — Class, Make / model, Capacity, and Acquired.

Actions

Open deploy / return handles the movement; Confirm receipt acknowledges a vendor unit's arrival.

What it accepts

Movements are recorded through deploy and return, covered on Fleet. This record itself is a read-out.

How to configure it

• This screen belongs to the Rentals module — see Settings → Capabilities.
• Job costing settings decide how burdened labour and non-labour cost are built, which is what makes the margin figure real.
• Rate cards decide what the unit bills at, and therefore its dollar utilization.
• Rental movement billing settings decide how deploy and return charges are raised.

Who can see it

This screen sits behind the Rentals area, and additionally behind the Rentals module.

Owners and office managers can open it where the module is on. Dispatchers and technicians cannot. The gate is checked on the server, not just hidden in the sidebar, so a direct link does not get around it.
