What it's for

Rentals is the list of retail rental contracts — units out with customers, what they are earning, and when they are due back. It is the working list for a shop that rents equipment as well as servicing it.

Reach it from Jobs → Rentals in the sidebar, at /rentals. Opening a contract goes to its record. Business-to-business rentals to contractors have their own list at Contractor rentals.

Tabs

The list has no tabs. Sibling screens sit alongside it: New rental, Rate cards, and Utilization & ROI.

Panels and controls

  • The list shows each contract with its customer, the units on it, the term, and where it stands.
  • New opens the rental builder, where the rate resolves from your rate cards rather than being typed.
  • Opening a row goes to the contract record, with its units, charges, and billing history.

Rentals sit beside Fleet rather than duplicating it: Fleet is the units you own, Rentals is the contracts they go out on. A unit's own earnings and utilization live on its fleet asset record.

What it accepts

The list writes nothing. Contracts are created on New rental and changed on their own record.

How to configure it

  • This screen belongs to the Rentals module — see Settings → Capabilities.
  • Rate cards decide what each asset class rents for, by date and audience.
  • Rentals settings decide deposits, minimum periods, and damage-waiver defaults.
  • Rental movement billing settings decide how deploy and return charges are raised.

Who can see it

This screen sits behind the Rentals area, and additionally behind the Rentals module.

Owners and office managers can open it where the module is on. Dispatchers and technicians cannot. The gate is checked on the server, not just hidden in the sidebar, so a direct link does not get around it.

The full role matrix is on Roles & permissions.
