New B2B rental

Open Rentals → Contractor → NEW in Thermal →

What it's for

New B2B rental creates a rental to a contractor. It asks for the three parties separately because they usually are separate — "Bill-to contractor ≠ deployment site ≠ return-to branch — the three roles this module is built around."

Reach it from New on the Contractor rentals list, at /rentals/contractor/new.

Tabs

The form has no tabs. It is one page.

Panels and controls

  • Bill-to contractor — who pays. This is the account the invoice goes to, and the account whose contractor rate card applies.
  • Deployment site — where the unit physically goes. Often the contractor's own customer's building, which is why it is a separate field.
  • Return-to branch — which of your yards it comes back to. On a multi-branch shop this is what stops a unit ending its life at the wrong location.
  • Equipment — the fleet unit going out.
  • Vendor PO — where the unit is re-rented in from a supplier rather than owned.
  • Start date — when the term begins.
  • Non-compete — marks the deployment as one where your shop does not service the site directly while the contractor's unit is there. Booking work at a covered site afterwards requires a written override reason.
  • Create B2B rental makes the contract.

How to configure it

  • This screen belongs to the Rentals module — see Settings → Capabilities.
  • The contractor rate card decides the rate, and a card can be tied to one contractor.
  • Branches decide what the return-to picker offers.
  • Rentals settings decide deposit and minimum-period defaults.

Who can see it

This screen sits behind the Rentals area, and additionally behind the Rentals module.

Owners and office managers can open it where the module is on. Dispatchers and technicians cannot. The gate is checked on the server, not just hidden in the sidebar, so a direct link does not get around it.

The full role matrix is on Roles & permissions.
