What it's for
Contractor rentals is the list of business-to-business rentals — units out to contractors rather than to end customers. The module exists because these rentals have three separate parties, not one: who is billed, where the unit went, and which branch it comes back to.
Reach it from Jobs → Contractor rentals in the sidebar, at
/rentals/contractor.
Tabs
The list has no tabs. New B2B rental creates one; opening a row shows the contract.
Panels and controls
- The list shows each contract with the contractor being billed, the units out, and the term.
- New B2B rental opens the creation form.
- Opening a row goes to the contract record.
The three roles
The screen is explicit about this: bill-to contractor ≠ deployment site ≠ return-to branch. A contractor hires a chiller, it goes to their customer's building, and it comes back to whichever of your yards is nearest. Treating those as one party is how rentals get delivered to the wrong address and billed to the wrong account.
Non-compete
A contractor rental can carry a non-compete condition, meaning your shop does not service the site directly while the contractor's unit is there. Where one applies, booking service work at that site asks for a written override reason before it will proceed — you will see the same prompt on the work-order form and on the Equipment bulk actions.
What it accepts
The list writes nothing. Contracts are created on New B2B rental and changed on their own record.
How to configure it
- This screen belongs to the Rentals module — see Settings → Capabilities.
- The contractor rate card decides what a contractor is charged, and a card can be tied to one contractor.
- Rentals settings decide the deposit and minimum-period defaults.
- Branches decide what the return-to branch picker offers.
Who can see it
This screen sits behind the Rentals area, and additionally behind the Rentals module.
Owners and office managers can open it where the module is on. Dispatchers and technicians cannot. The gate is checked on the server, not just hidden in the sidebar, so a direct link does not get around it.
