Add fleet asset
What it's for
Add fleet asset registers a company-owned unit — "available in the yard until deployed to a job or rental". It is how a unit you bought becomes a unit you can rent out, dispatch to your own job, or measure the return on.
Reach it from Add on the Fleet list, at /fleet/new.
Tabs
The form has no tabs. It is one short page.
Panels and controls
- Equipment type — what the unit is, "Chiller, cooling tower…".
- Fleet class — the asset class it belongs to. This is the field the rate cards price against, so getting it right is what makes a quote automatic later.
- Fleet ID — your own identifier for the unit, the one painted on the side.
- Serial, Make, Model, and Install year — the nameplate.
- Acquisition cost — what you paid, "0.00". This is the denominator of every return-on-investment figure on the asset's record; a unit registered without it can show revenue but not whether it paid for itself.
- Add to fleet creates the unit, parked in the yard.

How to configure it
- This screen belongs to the Rentals module — see Settings → Capabilities.
- Rentals settings and the rate cards decide what each fleet class rents for.
- Branches decide which yard the unit belongs to.
Who can see it
This screen sits behind the Rentals area, and additionally behind the Rentals module.
Owners and office managers can open it where the module is on. Dispatchers and technicians cannot. The gate is checked on the server, not just hidden in the sidebar, so a direct link does not get around it.
The full role matrix is on Roles & permissions.
