Leases
What it's for
Leases is the list of operating leases — equipment placed with a customer on a fixed monthly payment that bundles the unit, the install, and full maintenance. A lease is a different commercial animal from a rental: longer, fixed, and recognised as revenue month by month.
Reach it from Jobs → Leases in the sidebar, at /leases. Opening one goes
to its record.
Tabs
The list has no tabs. New operating lease creates one.
Panels and controls
- The list shows each lease with its lessee, the equipment placed, the term, and where it stands.
- New opens the lease form.
- Opening a row goes to the lease record, with its schedule and revenue recognition.
Lease versus rental
A rental bills per cycle for as long as the unit is out and stops when it comes back. A lease is a fixed monthly payment across a committed term, recognised on a straight line once it commences, and it bundles maintenance rather than billing it separately. If a customer is going to keep the unit for years, it is a lease; if they are covering a shortfall for a season, it is a rental.
What it accepts
The list writes nothing. Leases are created on New operating lease and changed on their own record.
How to configure it
- This screen belongs to the Rentals module — see Settings → Capabilities.
- Invoicing settings decide the billing cadence a lease can be placed on.
- Job costing settings decide how the bundled maintenance cost lands against the lease.
- Agreements settings interact where a lease's maintenance is delivered as a plan.
Who can see it
This screen sits behind the Rentals area, and additionally behind the Rentals module.
Owners and office managers can open it where the module is on. Dispatchers and technicians cannot. The gate is checked on the server, not just hidden in the sidebar, so a direct link does not get around it.
