Register vendor fleet

Open Fleet → Vendor → NEW in Thermal →

What it's for

Register vendor fleet adds supplier-owned inventory to your fleet, or converts an idle company unit into a vendor-owned one. It exists because a shop that rents out more than it owns still needs one place to see what is available.

Reach it from Register vendor unit on the Fleet list, at /fleet/vendor/new. The page describes itself as "Add supplier-owned inventory or convert an idle company unit."

Tabs

The form has no tabs. It is two panels, and you use one or the other.

Panels and controls

New vendor unit

Register a unit you are renting in: Equipment type ("Chiller, cooling tower…"), Fleet class, Fleet ID, Serial, Make, Model, and the Vendor it belongs to. Register vendor unit adds it.

A re-rented unit appears in the fleet alongside your own, marked by its source, so a quote can go out against it — but its economics are different, and the fleet asset record keeps the re-rental source visible for exactly that reason.

Convert company unit

Idle company unit picks one of your own units and Convert to vendor-owned changes its ownership. Only idle units are offered: converting a unit that is currently out would change who owns something mid-contract.

How to configure it

  • This screen belongs to the Rentals module — see Settings → Capabilities.
  • Purchasing supplies the vendor book this form picks from.
  • Rate cards price by fleet class, so the class you set here decides what the unit rents for.

Who can see it

This screen sits behind the Rentals area, and additionally behind the Rentals module.

Owners and office managers can open it where the module is on. Dispatchers and technicians cannot. The gate is checked on the server, not just hidden in the sidebar, so a direct link does not get around it.

The full role matrix is on Roles & permissions.
