Retail rental contract

What it's for

A retail rental contract record is one rental made to an ordinary customer rather than to a contractor. It carries the same units, term, and charges as any rental, with the retail rate card applied.

Reach it by opening a retail rental from Jobs → Rentals. The route is /rentals/retail/<contract>.

Tabs

The record has no tabs. Units and charges are the body; term and billing sit alongside.

Panels and controls

  • The units out on this contract, with the site each was deployed to.
  • The term — start, scheduled end, and current state. A contract with no end date keeps billing per cycle until the unit comes back.
  • Charges — the resolved daily, weekly, or 28-day rate, plus any minimum charge, tiered step-down, standby rate, damage waiver, and deposit.
  • Billing — what has been invoiced and what the next cycle will bring.
  • Return closes the contract with a return date, condition photos, and any return charges.

Retail versus contractor

The difference is who is being billed and on what terms. Retail rentals price off the retail rate card; contractor rentals separate the bill-to contractor from the deployment site and the return-to branch, and can carry a non-compete condition. If a rental involves a contractor billing arrangement it belongs on the contractor side, not here.

How to configure it

  • This screen belongs to the Rentals module — see Settings → Capabilities.
  • The retail rate card decides the rate.
  • Rentals settings decide deposits, minimum periods, and waiver defaults.
  • Invoicing settings decide what the rental invoice looks like.

Who can see it

This screen sits behind the Rentals area, and additionally behind the Rentals module.

Owners and office managers can open it where the module is on. Dispatchers and technicians cannot. The gate is checked on the server, not just hidden in the sidebar, so a direct link does not get around it.
