Rental contract
What it's for
A rental contract record is one rental in full: which units are out, where they went, what the term is, what has been billed, and what is still to come. It is where a rental billing question gets answered.
Reach it by opening any row on Jobs → Rentals. The route is
/rentals/<contract>.
Tabs
The record has no tabs. The units and charges are the body; the term and billing summary sit alongside.
Panels and controls
- The units on the contract, with where each was deployed and its condition on the way out.
- The term — start, scheduled end, and whether the contract is still running. An open-ended rental keeps billing per cycle until it is returned, which is the behaviour to understand before leaving an end date blank.
- Charges — the rate that resolved, any standby or tiered steps, the minimum charge, the damage waiver, and the deposit.
- Billing history — what has been invoiced per cycle.
- Return ends the contract, recording the return date, condition photos, a meter reading where the unit meters, and any return charges.
Returning a unit is what stops the meter: a rental left un-returned in the record keeps billing, because as far as the product knows the customer still has it.

How to configure it
- This screen belongs to the Rentals module — see Settings → Capabilities.

- Rental movement billing settings decide how deploy and return charges reach an invoice.
- Invoicing settings decide what a rental invoice looks like.
Who can see it
This screen sits behind the Rentals area, and additionally behind the Rentals module.
Owners and office managers can open it where the module is on. Dispatchers and technicians cannot. The gate is checked on the server, not just hidden in the sidebar, so a direct link does not get around it.
The full role matrix is on Roles & permissions.
