Out & overdue

Open Fleet → OUT Overdue in Thermal →

What it's for

Out & overdue is the short list of fleet units that should have come back and have not. An overdue unit is money in two directions at once: it is not available to rent to someone else, and it is often still billing a customer who thinks they returned it.

Reach it from Out & overdue on the Fleet list, at /fleet/out-overdue.

Panels and controls

Columns: Asset, Customer, Expected, Status, Metric, and Action.

  • Expected is the date the unit was due back. The distance between that and today is the age of the problem.
  • Status shows where the unit stands — still on rent, collection booked, or overdue with nothing scheduled. The third of those is the queue to work.
  • Metric shows the unit's meter where it has one, which is what tells you whether an overdue unit is still being used or merely still on site.
  • Action books the collection or opens the contract.

Working this list is how a rental fleet stays a fleet rather than becoming a set of units at other people's premises. Nothing here is a report — every row is something to do.

What it accepts

The screen takes no input of its own. Scheduling a return from a row does the same thing Schedule return does on the fleet asset.

How to configure it

  • This screen belongs to the Rentals module — see Settings → Capabilities.
  • Rentals settings decide how overdue a unit has to be before it appears here.
  • Rental movement billing settings decide whether an overdue unit keeps billing, which is usually what you want and always worth knowing.
  • Branches decide which yard a unit is expected back at.

Who can see it

This screen sits behind the Rentals area, and additionally behind the Rentals module.

Owners and office managers can open it where the module is on. Dispatchers and technicians cannot. The gate is checked on the server, not just hidden in the sidebar, so a direct link does not get around it.

The full role matrix is on Roles & permissions.
