Lease record

What it's for

A lease record is one operating lease in full: the equipment placed, the term, the monthly payment, and how much of it has been recognised. It is where a lease's state gets checked without opening the accounting system.

Reach it by opening any row on Jobs → Leases. The route is /leases/<lease>.

Tabs

The record has no tabs. The lease terms are the body; the schedule and recognition sit alongside.

Panels and controls

• The lessee and equipment — who has what, and where it is placed.
• The term — commencement date, length in months, and where the lease is in it.
• The payment — the fixed monthly amount and the billing cadence. Billing and recognition are separate: a lease billed quarterly still recognises revenue monthly on a straight line from commencement.
• Recognition — how much has been recognised and how much remains.
• Classification — the ASC 842 classification recorded when the lease was created.
• Maintenance — the bundled service the lease covers, which is what makes a lease different from a finance arrangement: you are still on the hook for keeping the unit running.

A lease that has not commenced recognises nothing. Commencement is the date the schedule starts from, so it is the field to check first when a recognition figure looks wrong.

What it accepts

The record is largely a read-out; the lease's terms are set when it is created. Activation is the one state change made here, and it starts the schedule.

How to configure it

• This screen belongs to the Rentals module — see Settings → Capabilities.
• Invoicing settings decide what a lease invoice contains and on what cadence.
• Integrations settings decide whether recognised revenue is handed to your accounting system.
• Job costing settings decide how the bundled maintenance is costed against the lease.

Who can see it

This screen sits behind the Rentals area, and additionally behind the Rentals module.

Owners and office managers can open it where the module is on. Dispatchers and technicians cannot. The gate is checked on the server, not just hidden in the sidebar, so a direct link does not get around it.
