Available work

Open Tech → Available in Thermal →

What it's for

Available work is unassigned jobs a technician can claim for themselves. It exists so a technician who finishes early can pick up the next job without phoning the office, and so the office does not have to assign every job by hand.

Reach it from the field app navigation, at /tech/available.

Tabs

The screen has no tabs. It is one list of claimable work.

Panels and controls

  • The list shows unassigned jobs within the technician's branch scope, with enough detail to decide whether to take one.
  • Claim requested takes the job. It goes to the technician who claimed it and comes off the list for everyone else.
  • No available work means nothing is unassigned in their scope right now.
  • You're marked on leave stops claiming while a technician is on leave — which is the right behaviour, because a job claimed by someone who is not working is worse than a job nobody claimed.
  • Login not linked means the sign-in has not been connected to a staff record yet; the office fixes that by adding the person as staff.

Only technicians can claim: "Only technicians can claim available jobs." Office staff assign work from Dispatch instead.

What it accepts

The screen takes no fields. Claiming is a single action per job.

How to configure it

  • Branch scope on the staff record decides which jobs a technician can see here — a branch-limited technician sees their own branch's work.
  • Dispatch decides what is left unassigned and therefore claimable.
  • Automations settings decide whether unassigned work is auto-assigned before it ever reaches this list.

Who can see it

This screen is part of the field app. Technicians see it on their own phone or tablet, scoped to the branches they work in.

Office roles work from the office app instead; they do not use this screen.
