Equipment (field app)
What it's for
Equipment in the field app registers a unit the technician is standing in front of. Most equipment gets onto the record this way — nobody surveys a building from the office, and the person who can read the data plate is the person on the roof.
Reach it as a stage of a job in the field app. The route is
/tech/<job>/equipment.
Tabs
The stage has no tabs. It is one capture form.
Panels and controls
- Nameplate photo is the fast path: photograph the data plate and the form reads what it can off it. Everything it fills stays editable, and it says so plainly when it cannot cope — take a clearer, well-lit photo, or type the details by hand.
- Equipment type — what the unit is.
- Make ("e.g. Carrier"), Model, Serial number, and Install year ("e.g. 2019") — the identity.
- Refrigerant and Tonnage ("e.g. 3") — the spec.
- EPA appliance class — what decides the unit's refrigerant compliance obligations.
- Notes — "Location, access notes, condition…". This is the field the next technician will thank you for: which roof, which stair, whose key.
A unit registered here is a real equipment record from that moment — it appears on the customer, it can be put under an agreement, and its history starts accumulating.

How to configure it
- Equipment types come from the trades your shop has enabled.
- Compliance settings decide whether EPA appliance class and refrigerant detail are expected.
- The office equivalent of this form is Add equipment, which carries the extra warranty and meter fields.
Who can see it
This screen is part of the field app. Technicians see it on their own phone or tablet, scoped to the jobs assigned to them.
Office roles register units from the customer's Equipment tab instead.
