Van stock

What it's for

Van stock is what the technician has on the truck. Knowing whether the part is in the van before driving back to the warehouse is worth an hour a week, and a van whose stock is accurate is a van that gets restocked correctly.

Tabs

The screen has no tabs. It is the van's stock list.

Panels and controls

• Search covers parts and serials together — "Search parts & serials…" — so a technician holding a part with a serial on it can find it either way.
• The list shows what is on the van and how much. Opening an item shows its units where the part is tracked individually.
• Parts consumed on a job come off van stock automatically, which is what keeps this list true without a separate stocktake.
• Restock requests are raised from here and land in the office's Inventory restock queue.

Empty states

• No van assigned yet — the technician's staff record has no van location. The office sets that up under Inventory locations, and until they do there is nothing to show.
• No stock on this van yet — the van exists but is empty.
• No matches — the search found nothing.
• Login not linked — the sign-in has not been connected to a staff record.

Each of those has a different fix, which is why they are four messages rather than one.

How to configure it

• Inventory locations decide which van belongs to which technician. Only a van location can be assigned to a person.
• Inventory settings decide reorder thresholds, which is what drives restock suggestions.
• Parts are consumed against jobs in the Build stage, which is what keeps the numbers here honest.

Who can see it

This screen is part of the field app. Technicians see it on their own phone or tablet, scoped to their own van.

Office roles see every location's stock on Inventory instead.
