What it's for
Profile is a technician's own record in the field app — their clock, their day, and their recent history. It is where time gets recorded, which is what feeds payroll and job costing.
Reach it from the field app navigation, at /tech/profile.
Tabs
The screen has no tabs. It is the clock, today's work, and the history below.
Panels and controls
- Time type — what kind of time is being clocked. The type decides whether the hours are chargeable, which is what makes the labor utilization report mean anything.
- Job / phase (optional) — attaching time to a job is what puts the labour cost on that job. Time clocked without a job still counts for payroll but cannot be costed to work.
- Notes (optional) — "Anything worth flagging for approval". Time entries are reviewed by the office, and a note is what saves a phone call about an odd-looking entry.
- Today shows jobs completed so far. No jobs completed yet today is the empty state.
- History shows recent months. No monthly history yet appears for a technician who has just started.
- Login not linked means the sign-in has not been connected to a staff record; the office fixes it by adding the person as staff.
Time recorded here lands on Time entries for approval. Approved time is what reaches payroll and job cost — unapproved time is recorded but not counted.

The office cannot record two overlapping entries for the same person, so a clock left running will conflict with the next one — clocking out matters.
How to configure it
- Time validation settings decide which entries get flagged for the office.
- Billable time settings decide which time types are chargeable.
- Overtime settings decide when hours tip into overtime.
- Labor rates decide what an approved hour costs — see Labor rate scales.
Who can see it
This screen is part of the field app. Technicians see it on their own phone or tablet, showing their own time and their own day.
Office roles review the same time on Time entries.
