Van stock item
What it's for
A van stock item shows one part on the technician's truck, and — where the part is tracked individually — each unit of it by serial. It answers "have I got one, and which one is it" in the moment it is asked.
Reach it by opening a part from Van stock. The route
is /tech/van/<item>.
Tabs
The screen has no tabs. It is the item and its units.
Panels and controls
- The item — what it is and how many are on the van.
- Units — for a serialized part, each individual unit with its serial. This matters when the serial has to be recorded against the job, which is common for anything with a warranty.
- Consuming a unit on a job takes it off the van and puts the serial on the work order, so the customer's record shows exactly which unit went in.
Empty states
- No van assigned yet — the technician's staff record has no van location.
- No units in stock — the part is on the van's list but none are physically held.
- Login not linked — the sign-in has not been connected to a staff record.
What it accepts
The screen takes no fields of its own. Consumption is recorded on the job, in the Build stage.
How to configure it
- Inventory settings decide whether a part is tracked by individual unit. Serialized tracking is what makes the units list exist at all.
- Inventory locations decide which van this is.
- Job costing settings decide how a consumed part's cost lands on the job.
Who can see it
This screen is part of the field app. Technicians see it on their own phone or tablet, scoped to their own van.
Office roles see the same part across every location on the inventory item record.
